On November 9, 2024 5th International Conference on Advanced Materials and Intelligent Manufacturing (ICAMIM 2024), the construction project of Guangzhou "International Academic Conference Capital" in 2024, was held in the form of online + offline combination at Deshun Building in Guangzhou. Liu Huanbin, Chen Guangxue, Li Liejun, foreign members of the Russian Academy of Engineering, Liu Xingjun, foreign members of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Ni Yugen, Vice President of Guangzhou Association for Science and Technology, Hu Hong, Vice Minister of the Academic Department of Guangdong Association for Science and Technology, More than 300 people, including leaders of relevant departments, experts and scholars from universities, research institutes and business representatives from Yulin City of Guangxi, Zhaoqing High-tech Zone of Guangdong, Heshan City of Jiangmen, gathered together to discuss the development prospects and innovation paths in the field of advanced materials and intelligent manufacturing.

Academician experts discuss the new trend of advanced materials and intelligent manufacturing


The development of advanced materials and intelligent manufacturing is the key to enhancing the competitiveness of the national manufacturing industry, promoting industrial upgrading and transformation, promoting sustainable development and enhancing the national scientific and technological strength. From aerospace to biomedicine, the application of advanced materials is everywhere, and the technology of intelligent manufacturing is changing rapidly.

"We hope that this meeting will inject new momentum into the development of advanced materials and intelligent manufacturing." Li Liejun, chairman of the conference, professor of South China University of Technology and foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering, said in his speech that in the context of the rapid development of global scientific and technological revolution and industrial change, advanced materials and intelligent manufacturing have become a key field of scientific and technological innovation and industrial development. This conference aims to promote and deepen the technological integration of advanced materials and intelligent manufacturing, and accelerate the formation of new quality productivity.

Ni Yugen, Vice chairman of Guangzhou Association for Science and Technology, said in his speech that advanced materials and intelligent manufacturing, as an important driving force to promote national economic development, occupy a core position in the global wave of scientific and technological innovation. At the conference, the three academicians made a keynote report and shared their latest research progress in the field of advanced materials and intelligent manufacturing. Liu Huanbin, former President of South China University of Technology and foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering, was invited to deliver a keynote speech entitled "Promoting Innovation and Application of Industrial Intelligent Technology with Large Systems Thinking". He deeply discussed how to promote the innovation of industrial intelligent technology through large system thinking, focused on the core achievements and application results of Boite industrial intelligent technology, and showed the key role of large system thinking in realizing intelligent manufacturing technology innovation.

"In the era of artificial intelligence, we should use large-scale systems thinking to promote scientific and technological innovation." According to Liu Huanbin, the industrial intelligence technology developed by Boite has been applied in more than 600 enterprises across the country, and was selected as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's "2022 Industrial Internet Platform Innovation pilot Application Case" and was selected as the 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference "AI Enabling New Industrial Innovation Application Excellent Case".

Liu Huanbin said that the realization of intelligent manufacturing must first have "industrial intelligence", and industrial intelligence is generated in a closed-loop large system, the closed-loop large system has two key links, one is to have a powerful optimization algorithm engine (AI computing and cognition); Second, there is a live industrial data stream. For many companies, there is no lack of industrial data flow, the key is to develop a good algorithm suitable for the company, to form a large system, a closed loop. This closed-loop large-scale system is called "digital-real fusion closed-loop system" or "industrial AI system".

Chen Guangxue, professor of South China University of Technology and foreign academician of Russian Academy of Engineering, made a presentation on the topic of "Research Progress of flexible electronic and Sensing Materials Based on Printing Manufacturing Technology". He analyzed the great advantages of printed manufacturing technology in the field of flexible electronics and sensing materials, and demonstrated its breakthrough progress in intelligent packaging, rapid detection and other applications, especially the innovative results of paper-based sensors, which are refreshing.

Liu Xingjun, professor of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, winner of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, introduced the application of artificial intelligence in accelerating the development of new materials in the report entitled "Application of artificial intelligence in the research and innovation of new materials", highlighting the decisive role of machine learning in solving the pain points of traditional material development. The successful case of a new cobalt-based superalloy demonstrates the strong potential of AI technology.

In the theme of advanced materials, Professor Ma Chunfeng of South China University of Technology, Professor Sun Haibo of Foshan University, and researcher Li Shun of Foshan (South China) New Materials Research Institute respectively conducted in-depth discussions on the cutting-edge achievements in the field of materials science. In the intelligent manufacturing sub-conference, Professor Wang Min of South China University of Technology, researcher Xu Zhihao of Intelligent Manufacturing Institute of Guangdong Academy of Sciences and researcher Liu Shuhao of Shenzhen Institute of Computing Science in-depth analyzed their respective research fields, especially in the application of big data and AI systems. In addition, more than 20 experts and scholars made excellent reports.

The 13th Jinbo Award Global High-level Talent Science and Technology Innovation Competition list was released on the scene, including three lists of potential value list, industrial value list and service value list, each list has 10 projects/units on the list. According to reports, the Jinbo Award was founded in 2011, is a global event for the mining, display, exchange, incubation and transformation of scientific and technological innovation achievements of high-level talents represented by doctors. Since the launch of the Jinbo Awards in May this year, more than 200 services such as capital docking, technology docking, industrial resource docking, and professional service empowerment have been carried out to help it quickly achieve commercialization and promote the deep integration of the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain.
